<p>The INAF members of our team include internationally recognized experts with more than 20 years activity and expertise in the fields interested by VSNG: variable stars, photometry of space (HST) and ground-based data, time series analysis of variable stars, stellar pulsation, stellar populations, star formation recovery. Our team includes also members of Coordination Unit 7 (CU7; Variability Analysis) and Coordination Unit 9 (Archive and Catalogue Access) of the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC). The VSNG coordinator (G. Clementini) is the manager of the DPAC CU7 work package devoted to the validation and full characterisation of Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars observed by Gaia. She is a member of the Transients and Variable Stars (<span style="font-family: var(--bs-font-sans-serif); font-size: 1rem;">TVS) and the Stars, Milky Way and Local Volume (SMWLV) Rubin-LSST Science Collaborations (SCs) and the PI of the Rubin-LSST in-kind contribution: S15 - TITLE: Tools for classification, full characterisation and validation of variable sources, endorsed by the Rubin-LSST TVS SC. Eight researchers in our team are members of the Gaia DPAC and the Rubin-LSST TVS and </span><span style="font-family: var(--bs-font-sans-serif); font-size: 1rem;">SMWLV SCs.</span></p>

From 2000 to 2005 the VSNG program has received some financial support from MIUR as part of PRIN MIUR 2000 - PI A. Tornambè; PRIN MIUR 2003 - PI R. Gratton; PRIN MIUR 2004 - PI M. Capaccioli; and from INAF as part of PRIN INAF 2002 - PI M. Tosi; and PRIN INAF 2005 - PI M. Tosi. Clementini; PRIN INAF 2008: "The ESO Magellanic Cloud Surveys: tracing the stellar populations and beyond", PI M. Marconi; Agreement ASI-INAF I/009/10/0: "Ultra-faint dwarf galaxies: when size does matter", PI G. Clementini; PRIN INAF 2010: "Looking for the elusive ‘building blocks’ of the Milky Way and Andromeda halos", PI G. Clementini; EU FP7 Project n.264895: "GREAT-ITN", international PI N. Walton, INAF PI G.Clementini; European Science Fundation, GREAT Conference: "The Fundamental Distance Scale: State of the Art and the Gaia Perspective"; PRIN INAF 2014: "EXALIBURS: EXtragalactic distance scale CALIBration Using first-Rank Standard Candles" PI G.
