L’origine del magnetismo cosmico è uno dei puzzle ancora irrisolti della cosmologia moderna; la presenza di campi magnetici su scale cosmologiche richiede un contributo da campi seminali generati nell’Universo primordiale. Questi campi magnetici primordiali a loro volta influenzano l’intera storia dell’Universo lasciando impronte sul fondo cosmico a microonde (CMB) e la struttura su grande scala (LSS). Da 14 anni INAF è rinomato a livello internazionale nel campo dello studio dei campi magnetici primordiali e le loro sinergie con la CMB e LSS. I ricercatori intendono proseguire le attività in questo campo in preparazione per i futuri esperimenti che con la loro precisione permetteranno di risolvere il puzzle dell’origine del magnetismo cosmico.
The origin of cosmic magnetism is one of the still unsolved puzzle of modern cosmology; the presence of magnetic fields on cosmological scales requires a contribution from seed fields generated in the Early Universe. Such primordial magnetic fields in turn influence all the Universe history leaving imprints on the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation (CMB) and the Large Scale Structure (LSS). In the last 14 years INAF has been internationally renowned in the study of primordial magnetic fields and their synergies with CMB and LSS. The researchers want to continue the activities in this field in preparation for future experiments that with their precision will allow to solve the puzzle on the origin of cosmic magnetism.

The Coordinator is the author and the owner of one of the two existing Einstein Boltzmann codes for the predictions of magnetically induced CMB anisotropy spectra, the only one with the exact magnetic source terms; the Coordinator is also one of the developers of the first code to predict the heating effect on CMB anisotropies.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;background-color:#ffffff;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;padding:0pt 0pt 12pt 0pt;" align="justify"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:#212529;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">The Coordinator has been the leader of the working group dedicated to Primordial Magnetic Fields in the Planck Collaboration from 2013 to the publication of the dedicated paper in 2016 (whose the Coordinator is corresponding author): Planck 2015 results XIX:Constraints on Primordial Magnetic Fields.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;background-color:#ffffff;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:12pt;" align="justify"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:#212529;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">The Coordinator is currently the leader of the Project Study Group dedicated to Primordial Magnetic Fields in the LiteBIRD Collaboration.</span></p><p></p>

Le attività di Good OMENS non hanno mai ricevuto finanziamenti dedicati, la PI è sempre stata supportata da fondi esterni dedicati ad altri progetti (Planck, ASI-Cosmos, LiteBIRD). Associato a questa scheda verrà richiesto un minigrant per finanziare visiting scientists sia in ingresso che in uscita e per meetings.
