The combination of data on a broad range of angular scales to image complex structures was one of the main ALMA construction drivers. However, array combination images are not among the ALMA products.
We proposed “Legacy Illustrations of Linked Array-Combinations” (LILAC) to the recent "ESO call for development studies for ALMA upgrades".
The main goal of the LILAC study is to verify the possibility to produce and distribute a representative illustration of the results of array combination for all the archived sources observed within the same project with more than one array, according to the state-of-the-art best practice indications, in order to improve the user experience and the legacy value of the ASA.
The study is being evaluated and, if approved, will last for 1 year.

<p>The INAF-Italian node of the European ARC network hosted by the INAF-Istituto di Radioastronomia will lead the LILAC effort with participation in all the Working groups and supervision of all the stages of the analysis. <br></p>

The funding request for the proposed study is currently under evaluation at ESO and JAO. The overall requested amount is 30kE. The funding will contribute to pay for the activities related with the proposed study based mostly at the Italian node of the European ARC. Testing and development will employ the INAF computing resources already used for the ARI-L project. Additional hardware will be implemented to improve data transfer (e.g. ssh-servers) or complement and upgrade the already available computing resources. Other cost items will cover travel expenses for all the collaboration participants, and the organization of an Archive-data array-combination related school to train the community in the combination techniques and their best-practices.
