The ARC-It is the Italian node of the European ALMA Region Center network. It has a twofold aim, established via an MoU with ESO and the ARC network: supporting the local community interested in ALMA, and contributing to the telescope maintenance and upgrade. The users are supported throughout the entire lifetime of a project, from proposal preparation to data analysis, and archive data mining. The ARC-It periodically hosts events to gather the (sub-)mm community, and attention is paid to new generations with schools, university courses, and thesis supervision. The contribution to the telescope operation goes from the data quality assessment, to the extention of new capabilities, in particular in the node's areas of expertise: archive data mining, polarisation and mm-VLBI.

Although our activity is primarily one of support, all ARC-It staff have their own scientific interests and when not occupied with support or educational activities they carry out research. Our interests lie in these fields: Observational astronomy (data analysis; mm astronomy; interferometry); interstellar medium and stars (clouds; dust; circumstellar matter; masers; star formation; astrochemistry); galactic and extra-galactic astronomy (galaxies and galaxy physics; AGN); black holes; cosmology. SCHEDE connected with this one: Planck_lensed (schede figlia).
The Italian ARC is led by INAF. The EU ARC as a whole is led by ESO, with which we (INAF) signed an MoU.

The ARC receives funding from INAF. A budget request is made every year, presenting a plan of operation covering a period of at least two years to ensure continuity in the execution of our tasks for the community. The budget covers the salaries of the postdocs, maintenance and upgrades for the computer cluster, organisation of workshops and conferences, and travel. The date of end of activities is unknown but assuming it is 2030 (max of the scheda) and that the request will be equal to that of the last 2 years, we arrive at the number indicated for the second entry. Because of our activities and expertise, we have become involved in projects such as AENEAS and Black Hole Cam (BHC), that came with separate funding; these funds were used to pay postdocs to work exclusively on those projects and to acquire a dedicated server (BHC) and are therefore not entered under external ARC-funds. Likewise, the ARC-led ALMA Development Plan, ARI-L (see item 10), was independently funded by ESO and had its own scheda (scheda figlia to this one in 2022); postdocs hired worked exclusively on ARI-L. On the other hand, funding received in the context of the premiale project “iALMA” (2015-17; PI: Testi) has been used for ARC development and is entered here as extra funding; similarly for the support we received from RadioNet, for the organization of some workshops and training events (catering, travel and/or support for participants with limited financial resources). We have also benefitted from the presence of an ESO Cofund-Fellow (2010-13), who worked for the ARC and was paid by ESO. (Note: the 2204kEuro reported below includes the funding received in 2023). We are not yet accounting for Tecnopolo computing resources for the next year as our contribution is still being defined.
