La Facility ROCT (Run-Optical Chamber Test set-up) è costituita da una camera da vuoto ed un cryocooler. Il sistema può lavorare con temperature variabili da 6.5 a circa 353 K, con una capacità di termalizzazione che varia da 0.1 K/min a 3.6 K/min. L’apparato sperimentale è stato usato per effettuare test in vuoto ed a temperature criogeniche sia sulla sorgente infrarosso (JSIR) che sul modello di qualifica e da volo dello "shutter". Questi due elementi, sono state selezionati come parti dello spettrometro ad immagine MAJIS a bordo della missione JUICE, lanciata con successo lo scorso Aprile. I test, eseguiti presso il PLab dello IAPS, hanno mostrato che sia la sorgente che lo shutter, hanno superato i test di accettazione, in accordo alle specifiche richieste
The ROCT (Run-Optical Chamber Test set-up) facility consists of a vacuum chamber and a cryocooler. The system can operate at temperatures ranging from 6.5 to approximately 353 K, with a thermal capacity ranging from 0.1 K/min to 3.6 K/min. The experimental set up was used to test in vacuum and at cryogenic temperatures both the infrared source (JSIR) and the qualification and flight model of the 'shutter'. These two elements, were selected as parts of the MAJIS on board the JUICE mission, which was successfully launched last April. Tests, carried out at the PLab of the IAPS, have showen that the both elements have passed the acceptance tests.

Title: MAJIS Shutter QM and FM Thermo-vacuum Test report

Abstarct: This test report provides a summary of the Thermo-Vacuum Test results on the QM and FM shutter units, a mechanical part of the spectrometer MAJIS (Moon And Jupiter Imaging Spectrometer), a payload instrument on board of the JUCE (JUpiter ICy moons Explorer) mission. The shutter actuator is composed by an electromagnetic brushless actuator mounted with an aluminium blade. The aims of the actuator are to maintain the blade in two stable positions (open and closed), to rotate the blade from one position to other in a time less than 300ms and a low power consumption. These tests have been conducted to demonstrate the capability of the shutter to operate according to requirements in vacuum at predefined temperature conditions. The target temperatures for the QM model are Top-Min = 100K and Top-Max = 165K and pressures less than 1 mbar. A total number of thermo-vacuum cycles of 42 are requested, including an extra hot point at 337K but only for the first cycle at the beginning. A slope of 2.7K/min has been agreed and planned for all the cycles. For the life test, performed only on the QM1, selected as reference, a total number of 1500 cycles at the same conditions of T and P are requested. For what concerns the test performed on the FM model, the target temperature is Top-Min = 105K and Top-Max = 160K. A total number of thermo-vacuum cycles of 4 are requested, including an extra hot point at 337K but only for the first cycle at the beginning. A slope of 2.7K/min has been agreed and planned for all the cycles.

Title: Juice - Majis Experiment - JSIR and MIRL emitters report test
Abstract: The present document reports the tests performed on two IR emitters, JSIR and MIRL respectively, representative of the calibration unit of the MAJIS (Moons And Jupiter Imaging Spectrometer) instrument which is part of JUICE (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer) ESA mission. In order to verify the performance at different currents in the spectral range 1-6 mm, the radiance has been acquired using two different experimental set up. The first consists of a FT-IR spectrometer which works from 1 up to 14 mm with a variable resolution from 0.01 to 10 cm-1. For the scope of these tests, a resolution of 4 cm-1 has been set. The second set up consists of cryostat with a vacuum chamber that reach pressions af about 10-6 mbar and with a two stage cryo-cooler with a cooling capacity of 50/40W at 43K and 1.0 W at 4.2K. The system has been alligned with a Field-Spec which works from 0.3 to 2.5 mm. In this last case, the spectral range is different by the working conditions of the IR emitter but this configuration allowed compare the efficiency of the sources both air and vacuum conditions.
