WINGS e' una survey fotometrica e spettroscopica di 76 ammassi di galassie a redshift 0.04-0.07 e OMEGAWINGS e' l'estensione che quadruplica l'area coperta per 46 di questi ammassi. WINGS+OMEGAWINGS sono stati la prima grande survey di ammassi a basso z e sono una legacy survey, i cui dati e prodotti sono tutti pubblici. WINGS+OMEGAWINGS ha pubblicato risultati di avanguardia riguardo alle morfologie galattiche, le funzioni di massa stellare, le dimensioni delle galassie, le storie stellari e le proprieta' degli ammassi. Nell'ultimo anno WINGS/OMEGAWINGS ha ottenuto nuovi dati MUSE. Nei prossimi anni gli ammassi WINGS verranno osservati con WEAVE e 4MOST permettendo di raggiungere le infalling regions dei cluster fino a 5xR200 e 108–9 masse solari con un’alta completezza spettroscopica
WINGS is a photometric and spectroscopic survey of 76 clusters of galaxies at redshifts 0.04-0.07, and OMEGAWINGS is its extension to quadruple the area coverage for 46 of these clusters. WINGS_OMEGAWINGS has been the first large survey of galaxy clusters at low redshift and is a legacy survey, whose data and products are (or will soon be) all public. WINGS+OMEGAWINGS has published ground-breaking results about galaxy morphologies, stellar mass functions, galaxy sizes, stellar histories and cluster properties. During the last year WINGS/OMEGAWINGS has secured new MUSE data. WINGS clusters will be observed in the next few years with WEAVE and 4MOST reaching a high spectroscopic completeness out to 5xR200 and down to 108–9 solar masses, mapping the clusters infalling regions.

Before 2016, WINGS+OMEGAWINGS received financial support through the FIRB (2004-2007, PI Poggianti), PRIN-MIUR (2009, PI D'Onofrio), PRIN-INAF (2011 PI Grado, 2014 PI Poggianti) and ASI channels (2008, 2011, PI Poggianti). The estimate below is an approximate sum of funds received in the past. Last year, the project has been funded through a GO grant (PI Vulcani, 1 yr postdoc).
