HEX-P è un concetto di missione di classe "Probe" che combinerà immagini a raggi X ad alta risoluzione spaziale (<10 arcsec FWHM) e un'ampia copertura spettrale (0,1-150 keV) con un'area effettiva superiore alle missioni attuali (tra cui XMM-Newton e NuSTAR).
Proposto principalmente dal gruppo Caltech che gestisce la missione NuSTAR, HEX-P sta ora raccogliendo contributi da gruppi di tutto il mondo. L'Italia (ASI, INAF e aziende tra cui Media Lario) sta contribuendo alla missione sia dal punto di vista tecnologico (ottiche a raggi X, software) che scientifico. Qui descriviamo il coinvolgimento dell'INAF nella missione.

HEX-P is a probe-class mission concept that will combine high spatial resolution X-ray imaging (<10 arcsec FWHM) and broad spectral coverage (0.1-150 keV) with an effective area superior to current facilities (including XMM-Newton and NuSTAR).
Proposed primarily by the people who worked on the NuSTAR mission, HEX-P is now collecting contributions from groups all around the world. Italy (ASI, INAF, and companies including Media Lario) is contributing to the mission both technologically (hard X-ray optics, software) and scientifically. Here we describe INAF's involvement in the mission.

This is a probe-class mission, which means the budget is ~1 billion $. The funding to INAF will largely depend on the Italian involvement in the mission, which is under negotiation.
