Lo svilippo di nuova strumentazione e le sinergie con Gaia stanno estendendo in modo significativo le prospettive di rivelazione diretta e caratterizzazione di pianeti giganti nelle loro fasi di formazioni o fasi iniziali di evoluzione. Ci proponiamo di sfruttare nuove survey nell'ottico, infrarosso e millimetrico, in corso o in preparazione con SHARK-VIS, SHARK-NIR, ERIS, SPHERE e JWST. Questo lavoro è necessario per preparasi a ricerche più profonde per pianeti in formazione che verranno svolte con ELT e con
strumenti pathfinder come SPHERE+ al VLT e ELVIS a LBT.
Il nostro team è all'avanguardia nel campo della formazione planetaria. Con il finanzialmento di questo progetto, ci proponiamo di consolidare il ruolo di INAF in questo campo di prepararci per l'avvento di ELT.

The development of new instrumentation and the synergies with Gaia are
greatly extending the perspectives to direct detection and physical
characterization of giant planets in their formation phase or in the
very early stages of their evolution. We plan to
fully exploit the new surveys at optical, infrared and millimeter
wavelengths, ongoing or planned with SHARK-VIS, SHARK-NIR, ERIS, SPHERE,
and JWST. This is a mandatory preparatory work to the deepest search
for newly formed planets that will be accomplished with the ELT and with
pathfinder instruments such SPHERE+ at VLT and ELVIS at LBT. Our team is at the fore-front of planet formation research. With this
grant we will consolidate the role of INAF in this field and be prepared
for the advent of the ELT.

The role of INAF and of associated personnel at Univeristies of Milan and Bologna is currently at top level worldwide in ths field of the project. The proposed program will allow to further increase the synegies within INAF and associated scientists, to optimized the scientific use of SHARK-VIS, SHARK-NIR, ERIS, and SPHERE, afetr the relevamt technological investment performed and to further enhance synergies with Gaia JWST space missions. The program also includes the preparatory work to the deepest search for newly formed planets that will be accomplished with the ELT and with pathfinder instruments suc<span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:'Open Sans',sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">h as SPHERE+ at VLT and ELVIS at LBT.
