VObs.it è l’iniziativa che consente alla comunità astronomica italiana di partecipare alle attività dell’IVOA. Ha lo scopo di coordinare, all’interno dell’approccio VO, gli archivi e le basi dati di interesse per la comunità italiana e contribuire alla definizione e sviluppo degli standard IVOA. VObs.it, avviato nel 2005 (dopo DRACO, 2003-2005), è stato finanziato dall’INAF (INAF-SI, INAF-ICT, e INAF USC-VIII) e da partecipazione a progetti quadro dell’UE: VO-TECH, EuroVO-DCA, EuroVO-AIDA, EuroVO-ICE, CoSADIE, ASTERICS, ESCAPE. Nel tempo ha ottenuto la collaborazione di altre istituzioni, quali ASI, CINECA, INFN, Università di Napoli “Federico II”, Università di Padova, con collegamenti ad altre iniziative di interoperabilità in fisica solare e planetologia.

VObs.it is the initiative that allows the Italian astronomical community to participate in the IVOA activities. Its goal is to coordinate, within the VO approach, the archives and databases of interest for the Italian community and to contribute to the design and development of the IVOA standards. VObs.it, started in 2005 (after DRACO, 2003-2005), has been funded by INAF (INAF-SI, INAF-ICT, and INAF USC-VIII) and by participating in EU framework projects: VO-TECH, EuroVO-DCA, EuroVO-AIDA, EuroVO-ICE, CoSADIE, ASTERICS and ESCAPE. During its evolution it collaborated with other institutions like ASI, CINECA, INFN, Naples University “Federico II”, Padua University, including connections with other interoperability driven initiatives in solar physics and planetary science.
